NOTES ON THE ARTWORK
In 1712 in Drapers’ Company Minutes book for the Court of Assistants 1705-1742, Gibbons is recorded as being chosen in the annual elections to become Second Master Warden (two ranks below the Master) against alternative candidate, John Watson. This marks his progression from his more junior roles in the Company’s Court as Younger Warden and Renter Warden.
