NOTES ON THE ARTWORK
Design for chimney-pieces with putti and foliage. Like the others in this group, the drawing does not include a room cornice profile and is schematic in its decorative detail. In composition it is very similar to 110/42 [Design for Alternate Chimney-Pieces on this website]. The high mantel shelf, the shield, helmet, and horns and bay leaves are derived from 110/48 [Design for a Chimney-Piece with Console Panels] .
